How to Consistently Come up with Ideas

• All ideas come from somewhere. They’re not created in a vacuum. In this video, I discuss the notion of generating ideas, how to do it consistently and one of my favorite tips for brainstorming.

• Let’s face it. There is TONS of great food photography online these days. It’s tempting to compare your work. But instead, why not be inspired by it? In this video, I share some of the ways I like to gather images from the internet and store them for inspiration when I need to create work.

How to Develop a Treatment

• The mood board can only take you so far. In some cases, the mood board may be all you need before you come to that final draft idea or image. Otherwise, further steps may be needed to be able to finalize the idea or concept of an image. And this is where building a “treatment” comes into play. In this video, I discuss what that is and how we can use this notion of a treatment to help us better execute our ideas in images.

The Pitch of your Final Draft

• From brainstorming to creating a mood board, to developing a treatment…now it’s time to not only create the photograph but also create the pitch for it. Sometimes the photo will speak for itself, but it doesn’t hurt to assure the client with words that you know what they want.
